Cutting fiberglass grating: Tools, operations, and safety strategies
In the installation and use process of fiberglass grating, cutting operation is an important link. Reasonable selection of tools and standardized operation can ensure cutting quality and performance.
1、 Selection and Application of Cutting Tools
(1) Linear cutting tool
Ceramic disc or diamond disc cutter: This type of cutter is suitable for straight cutting of fiberglass grating. It has high hardness and strong wear resistance, and can quickly and accurately complete cutting tasks. It is a commonly used tool for on-site cutting. In practical operation, the cutting speed is fast and the incision is relatively flat, which can effectively improve work efficiency.
Ordinary steel saw blade: Although the cutting efficiency of ordinary steel saw blade is relatively low, its advantage lies in its easy operation and accessibility. For some small or temporary cutting needs, ordinary steel saw blades can also be used for cutting at a lower cost.
(2) Curve cutting tool
When it is necessary to cut holes, arcs, and other curved lines on fiberglass grilles, electric saws or steel saws with metal cutting blades can be used. Electric saws have strong power and can quickly complete curve cutting, while steel saws are more suitable for small area and fine curve cutting work, and can be flexibly selected according to actual cutting needs.
(3) Polishing tools
After cutting is completed, it is often necessary to perform polishing treatment. At this time, handheld angle grinders, grinding machines, general files, and sandpaper can be used. Handheld angular polishing machines and grinding machines have high efficiency and are suitable for large-area polishing; Generally, files and sandpaper are used for fine polishing to make the cutting edge smoother and smoother.
2、 Key points of cutting operation
(1) Cutting method
Linear cutting: According to the required size, use tools such as ceramic discs or diamond disc cutters to smoothly cut along the marked line, ensuring the straightness of the cut. During the cutting process, it is important to control the cutting speed to avoid uneven cutting or edge breakage caused by excessive speed.
Curve cutting: Use an electric saw or steel saw equipped with metal cutting blades to cut according to the pre drawn curve contour. Be careful and cautious when operating, move the tool slowly to ensure the accuracy of curve cutting.
(2) Drilling operation
Small hole processing: For small hole processing, handheld electric hole processing tools or ordinary hand drills can be used. Before drilling, it is necessary to choose a suitable drill bit based on the aperture size to ensure accurate drilling dimensions.
Large hole processing: holes with a diameter of more than 12mm can be drilled with an ordinary Fried Dough Twists drill. During the drilling process, it is important to control the feed rate to prevent damage to the drill bit or uneven hole walls caused by excessive speed.
